Smedge does not come with a web interface out of the box. However, it is possible to integrate Smedge with a web server easily using the command line interface and the Herald to allow updating. Rebusfarm (a commercial render farm company) uses Smedge as their back-end distribution system, but has created a web based interface for their clients.
A relatively full featured, web based GUI is an existing feature request, but we are currently concentrating on improvements to the underlying communication, database, and work control systems over additional front-end shells. If anyone out there has already integrated Smedge with a web server interface of some kind and wants to share it with the world, please let us know!
