I've been trying to get Smedge to work on Ubuntu and I can get the GUI to open just it continually just sits there trying to connect to the master never actually connecting. For the install I downloaded the archive and extracted it to /opt and I can open it fine.
I also created the /etc/smedge and /etc/smedge3 just to be safe and set the permissions so all users can access them
Ive also run the install_daemon.sh in the utilities folder and that also didn't help. there is probably something small that I have done wrong but I cant seem to figure it out
Any help is appreciated
Thanks

Hi
The problem is most likely something related to the networking and Smedge having trouble using the correct network interface or resolving the correct IP address from a machine name.
There is a small issue with how it tries to resolve the names to addresses that I have fixed in the current code base. The first thing I would try is to use the most up-to-date build currently available, which is this one:
http://www.uberware.net/download/Linux/Smedge2015.0-a2.rpm
http://www.uberware.net/download/Linux/Smedge2015.0-a2.tar.bz2
You can also try manually setting up the networking on Linux using the menu command System > Configure Connection. In the dialog, you should try setting the "Connection for this machine" to the IP address of the Master and "Client listening network" to the IP address of the local machine.
I am happy to remote connect and take a further look if these options do not resolve the problem. Please contact with your remote connection info. You can get the client and instructions here:

Thanks,
-robin
