Version 2.5 is just about ready. I will be putting the beta version out this week. This is the more or less final feature list. There are still some little issues to iron out before the beta is released, so this may change a little bit, but it should be pretty much final:

+ Dynamic Redundant Master to mirror system data and simplify installation
+ True system default Engine settings saved by the Master and applied automatically to new Engines
+ Maxwell Pyramid merging
+ 3ds Max can copy scene file and data locally automatically
+ Improved Nuke command line control, including custom render flags that can be saved as presets and access to the argv area
+ Added automatic path detection for 3ds Max, After Effects, Lightwave, and Nuke
+ New restriction: "Job Priority" hides the priority slider from non-administrator users for submitting jobs.
+ File server system to allow Engines to serve files directly to other clients
+ Master automatically isolates incompatible versions to avoid version conflicts that lead to crashes or failures.
+ Changes to debug logging for improved workflow and easier debugging
+ Message communication system uses a dynamic buffer to eliminate hitting buffer limits on very large work units.
+ Environment variables set by Engine for work, and customizable to allow users to export any Smedge data to the work environment.
+ New Job Shell commands "Status" and "Command" and the ability to set the status code for the "Preempt" command
+ Machine log files are saved in the user account folders by default now, to avoid permission issues with multiple user systems
+ Modules can access the Master message sending functionality
+ WorkPostExecuteSuccessfulEvt and WorkPostExecuteUnsuccessfulEvt events
+ Tons of changes and optimizations in the API for stability, performance, and planning for version 4.0

- Generic Script jobs can crash the Master
- SmedgeGui freezes trying to set the process executable in the Configure Engine window
- Smedge could not start more than 2 After Effects processes
- Over average time killing was not working correctly (it was using milliseconds as seconds)
- Maya 2009 "renderLayereManager.renderLayerId" error is now ignored by default
- Maxwell -ml flag can now disable as well as enable multilight
- Clearer debug logging for work execution failures
- Fixed several possible causes of memory access violations that could cause process crashes
- (Linux/Mac) Process execution could ignore the PATH when searching for the executable
- (Linux/Windows) Tab key can navigate through the property grid
- Many small fixes and optimizations
- $(WaitForJobID) does not return the actual ID to wait for
- JobFile did not properly restore the paused status

I will post the link to the beta download as soon as it is available. I am putting together new installers for all platforms to handle the new, simplified usage.

If you have any questions, please let me know!

Thanks

Some more bug fixes in the last few days:

- Linux and OS-X log files are no longer created with rw------- permission (600)
now it tries to create the file with rw-rw-rw- permission (666) which will be modified by the process UMASK.

- Linux and OS-X the SingleInstancer, which restricts an application to only allowing a single instance of a process to run on a machine at one time, was not working correctly.

- View Output and View Truncated Output did not work consistently. Now they should work consistently, even across platforms, and even if there is no name resolution system on your network.

Thanks for your patience getting this release out.
