Smedge is the culmination of a long history of development:
Smedge 1 provided a simple and functional queue for rendering on Windows
Smedge 2 was a powerful and easy queue and distribution tool for Windows based rendering
Smedge 3 improved all levels of performance and customization and added seamless cross platform operation on Windows, Linux and Mac.
In recognition of all of these steps, and to simplify future naming and branding, we are going to be removing the technology level designation from the name. From now on, the product will simply be "Smedge".
The version numbers will remain the same. For example the current release is Smedge version 2.4 update 2 (the last that will have Smedge 3 in the official release name). You can also refer to this as Smedge 2.4.2.
You will notice that our web server has been updated with the new branding. For example, the Smedge home page address is now http://www.uberware.net/smedge. Although bookmarks to the /smedge3 addresses will still access the same information, we recommend you update any bookmarks to the new address.
