We just installed a quad socket machine in our farm, it has 4 10 core Xeons and 64 GB of RAM. It has Smedge intalled on it and have been testing it for Maya Vray renders. Right now Maya seems to be only utilizing only two CPU's. Curious if that is a limitation of Maya/Vray. We are considering running a virtual machine and allocating resources that way so we don't waste any horsepower. Any thoughts on how we could optimize it make the best use of everything?

Smedge generally doesn't care about how many sockets/cores/threads you use, other than for distribution purposes. However, there could be technical reasons why the CPU request is being ignored.

It may be helpful if you can arrange a time to do remote support. I would be happy to take a look at what is going on and see if I can resolve the CPU usage. Please contact me at and let's find some time.

Thanks,
