So I have a scene I created in maya and when I switch it in maya to render mental ray, it works completely fine in smedge. When I switch the same scene to render with vray, it keeps failing. When I look at the history.log it says "Plug-in, "vrayformaya", was not found on MAYA_PLUG_IN_PATH.
How can I fix this?
Thanks!
Matt

Hi
VRay needs to have specific environment variables set up in order to work correctly. You may have issues like this if you are using Smedge as a service, as the service is usually run under a different user account than you normally use to log into the console, and it may not have the variables set. There are other possible similar types of conditions generally related to user accounts that may be the cause.
First, try restarting Smedge on the node. It may just need to be restarted to re-read the configuration and get the variables set correctly. If a restart is not enough by itself, you can adjust the environment variables. There are lots of ways to do this, depending on things like how many versions of Maya and VRay you want to support and other pipeline type issues. The simplest way is to just set up the environment variables for all users on the system and restart it.
Details vary based on OS. If you need more help, contact support directly at and we can help step you through the best way to configure the env variables for your specific environment.
Thanks,

Did you ever find a solution to this? I have the same issue. I have tried contacting support but have not heard anything after a week.
