I think it is not a bad idea for Aegis to check if there is Aegis running already and do not start in such case. We have setup to start Aegis when you run Smedge GUI and leave it opened for artist to see if there is any job running and for convenient operating of render farm.
If you run Smedge GUI several times a day you will end up with screen full of Aegis windows running . . .
