Instead of having to open SmedgeGUI to check on a render job, how about a dashboard widget that gives you a progress bar and a percentage of job complete? Typing in your username and clicking OK will poll the Smedgemaster for the info.
This would be a great way for students to check on their render jobs without generating lots of extra traffic on the network.
