So I can monitor rendering progress from anywhere on my WiFi network.

This is a long desired feature, and I hope to get it running for 2011.

Thanks

How tricky would it be to also do an Android app too? ;~)

Cheers

Both are desired features, but both are pretty large projects. I'll see what I can do.

Thanks

To be honest Robin, android app is probably a bit of a white elephant for me here, don't worry about it. If I scratch some time together on android apps in future I'll give you a heads up if I do anything interesting for that side of things.

I've now got an almost exactly similar to smedge SQL system wrapped round your awesome Smedge controls here and I can drive an RSS feed to a custom written app or tool so I'm using that to poll progress and history without interacting with the master directly.

I've also added a few custom features around Smedge, which for me, has totally taken smedge to the next level, got the whole thing almost auto-wrangling itself now ;)

Cheers

I second this request too, but would be perfectly happy at the outset to just have it as a simple report showing percentage complete for jobs against my username.

If Smedge could respond to requests from a web browser, maybe this would be the quickest and easiest way to allow portable devices to interface with Smedge?

I think a web based system that is viewable on any mobile platform is the best option. This is definitely a feature we'd be interested in, as all of our business phones are Blackberry or Android based.

Bumping this thread.

Was there ever a solution to this? I love the idea of a web view.

Cheers

As you may have guessed from the crickets around this thread, no it was not implemented yet. That said, the 2016 data format changes will make it much easier to set up alternate ways to view and modify the system data. Once the release is out, I will be able to take a look at how to put something together, probably based on a web server idea, so that you will be able to do some level of monitoring and control from any web enabled device (iOS, Android, or desktop browsers).

I'm sorry for the lack of progress on this one. As a small shop, I had to concentrate on stability and scaling for most of the work I do. But I think this year will be a shift in that, and I can work on some of the nice bonus features like this.

Thanks,
-robin
