+ Versioning by year, including removal of the "3" from code and file paths
+ OS-X: GUI components use a more reasonable sized font
- Master and Engine can run correctly even if they can't save shared data to disk
- Mirrors could get the job status incorrect (possibly affecting percent done display)
- Some Engine settings could not be reverted to the default value after being set
- Engine shared data files have shared permissions
- Output window could fill really slowly and consume excessive CPU
- Administrator password can be correctly set and used
- Maxwell sequence rendering displays the correct percentage done
- Maxwell could have problems if the MXI file had not yet been generated when work was stopped
- Nuke did not detect rendered filenames correctly
- OS-X: Master correctly saves the license code now
- OS-X: PowerPC macs connect correctly with new communication system
- OS-X: Browsing the Log folder didn't always work
- OS-X: CheckFileSequence doesn't flash the window continuously

A feature added to Smedge 2010 that I forgot to add above:
+ Render Jobs can now optionally delete image files that are detected by the image detection system but fail to pass the minimum image size test (if that test is enabled).
This feature is great for users of renderers that can automatically skip rendered images, like After Effects. By turning this option on, the stub images that are created will be deleted, and the work will be properly re-rendered automatically. Otherwise, you would have to manually delete the failed images before they can be successfully re-rendered.

Sub packet division is not in this release. I plan to add it to Smedge 2011.

@Sujitkumar:
Documentation:
-MasterPort port
Override the TCP port that the Master uses for communication. (Default port is
6870.
Just add as a command line argument when starting SmedgeMaster.

If you want to run Smedge 2010 and older Smedge at the same time on the same machine, you need to also specify an alternate database folder for the Master with the -Database flag and you need to override the single instance limit on the Master and the Engine using the -AllowMultiple flag.
This makes it more complicated to start Smedge 2010, because you will need to start each component separately. Start with the master:
SmedgeMaster -MasterPort xxxx -AllowMultiple -Database yyyy
SmedgeEngine -MasterPort xxxx -AllowMultiple
SmedgeGui -MasterPort xxxx
xxxx should be a valid port other than the default 6870
yyyy should be a path where the Master will store the system data on the disk
This needs to be different because the format of the data has changed between Smedge 3 and Smedge 2010. Smedge 2010 is able to read and update data from older versions, but the data then becomes unreadable by the older version, and will cause problems.
If you don't want to run both versions at the same time on the same machines, then you don't need to worry about any this. The two systems can co-exist on a network, as long as any individual machine is only running one at a time.

First of all, make sure you have downloaded the installers for beta 9, instead of these older versions for beta 5. You can find links to the beta 9 downloads here:
http://www.uberware.net/forums/forums/viewthread/267
Once you have done that, follow the instructions in the installation guide, available here:
http://www.uberware.net/smedge/Installation_Guide_2010.pdf
All you need to do is install the software, and then run it. Almost everything else should be taken care of automatically after that. You will need to install a trial license to get it running, which you can get from your account on Uberware.net
If you can't get it running from the manual and instructions, contact and we will be glad to help you get it running.
